T.C. Boyle

Has anyone else read Wild Child by T.C. Boyle? (Kyle...?) I was between it and The Joy Luck Club at the airport bookstore, and I'm glad I went with it. Also, there's an animal in almost every story, but a majority of them have been killed in traumatic accidents.

  1. I have this collection! I've only read one story so far (the first) and liked it quite a bit. I didn't know about the linked theme of dead animals, though, which encourages me to read on...do you have a favorite?

  2. I have The Plague and other stories, which is a great collection. (Thanks to Amy!)

  3. Yes, I have! I read it last year. Right now I can only remember Sin Dolor and The Lie. Wild Child, to be honest, was very imaginative and well-drawn but I don't remember it being my favorite of the collection. I liked Sin Dolor a lot. Now that you mention it, even Sin Dolor has a kind of animalistic theme to it.

  4. Yes! I really liked Sin Dolor--and The Lie is fantastic. But Balto was well-crafted as well. (I'm overly impressed by stories that show a child or teenager's point of view without being pretentious.)
